TV TURNOFF WEEK:
It’s not too late to jump in and make it the rest of the week. Not having the TV on at our house has been great. We have played more board games, read more and read together more than we have in a long time.  A special thank you goes to Mrs. Tracey Curfman for her efforts in coordinating this week.  All of the students that submitted posters for this event did a splendid job on their work and deserve to be commended.
The winners of the Poster contest which was held to publicize this event were:
First Place: Makayla Rainsberger
Second Place: Bethany Ross
Third Place:  Hannah Ebrahimi

ADOPT A ROAD:
We hope you can come help serve our community this Saturday, April 26th.  If you are available to help with Road clean-up on behalf of Heritage Christian School, please meet at the Main Campus at 10:00 am. Please bring work gloves. No children under age 12, please.

MATH NEWS:
The Math Olympics held at Open Bible in Newberg on April 18th went well.  Many students received ribbons for their math skills, but as always, where they really were excellent was their deportment and good manners.  Thank you, parents!  Sixty percent of our students placed.  The students and their awards earned will be posted in the May 1st Knightly News.  Special thanks to the chaperones Mrs. Lam, Mrs. Herinckx, and Miss Amanda Keith for their time and effort!  One last note… the employees at the restaurants where our kids ate lunch were very complimentary about the student’s behavior and manners!

Recently our Math classes (from Pre-Algebra through Calculus) took the Northwest ACSI Math League tests.  Our students did very well.  Names and results will be in the May 1st Knightly News.  We also had two classes finish in first place overall.  Our Calculus class and our Geometry class will be competing in the National contest in the next couple of weeks.

HEALTH REPORT:
We have been privileged to have the services of Mrs. Allegra Storm this year at HCS.  Mrs. Storm has volunteered her time behind the scenes as a volunteer nurse for HCS.  Mrs. Storm is a current HCS parent, as well.  I have included an introduction letter from Mrs. Storm, as well as a Health guideline for parents to know when it is recommended they keep a child home from school.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT APPLICATIONS DUE:
Logic/Rhetoric students interested in applying for Student Government positions for next year must submit their applications to Mrs. Stone by this Friday, April 25th.

DRAMA PRODUCTION:
Tickets are on sale now in the school office for the drama/comedy “Murder at the OK Corral”, produced by Heritage’s Drama Dept. Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 2nd and 3rd, and again on Friday and Saturday, May 9th and 10th.  Tickets are $7 in advance and will be $9 at the door.  Don’t miss this event!

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION BRUNCH RSVP:
If you have volunteered your time at Heritage this year, we hope you can join us for our 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch, which will be held on Friday, May 16th at the Grammar Campus (770 NE Rogahn St., Hillsboro), from 8:30 am until 9:30 am. Our entire staff will be providing a great brunch as a way of saying thanks for your support this year to enhance the programs at HCS.

PARENT FORUM #3:
Plan now to join us on Monday, May 5th at 7:00 pm (Worship Center at the Grammar Campus; 770 NE Rogahn St., Hillsboro) for our last Parent Forum meeting of this school year. I will share some overview items regarding current enrollment projections; where we are in our three year plan, etc.. We will leave most of the time open to discuss key questions and seek feedback from parents in a more open forum style. Please plan to attend this important meeting.

Blessings,

Todd Pfaff
