The fine arts are an important element in a Classical core curriculum. Teaching through the arts helps students experience concepts rather than simply discussing or reading them. When children realize a song or a piece of art can tell a story, they become intrigued, motivating them to learn more.
Teaching through the arts is also an approach that allows for reaching multiple learning styles or intelligences. Once a student has been properly trained in the grammar of fine arts, they are able to learn based on more abstract thinking and find the deeper meaning of lessons and subject matter.
