Dan Hochhalter teaches Humanities & Drama at Heritage Christian. He also teaches Western Civilization, US History, Worldview, Government, Bible and Drama at the Rhetoric Level. Mr. Hochhalter is currently in his fifth year of teaching at Heritage. Prior to joining our staff, he served as a youth pastor for four years and a radio producer and announcer for four years. Mr. Hochhalter has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Management from Liberty University and a Master of Divinity from George Fox Evangelical Seminary. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Theology/Religious Studies from The University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Mr. Hochhalter has been married to his wife, Priscilla, for eight years. She is a Senior Technical Writer and graduate student at Portland State. When he's not face-to-face with his students, Mr. Hochhalter can be found reading books and watching movies. He loves theatre, road trips and cold, gray autumn weekends watching football.
Mr. Hochhalter likes teaching at Heritage Christian because of the freedom to explore ideas honestly. Critical thinking is not just a euphemism for creating a good defense for a particular doctrine, but also to explore the strengths and weakness of ideas, worldviews and different biblical interpretations.
