Mrs. Mason comes to us with a M.A. from the University of Arizona, a B.A. from George Mason University, 2004 Logos School Teacher Training, and 3 years experience at Carolina Classical School - Grammar level in Tryon, NC.
She has been married to Matthew for almost 8 years. Mr. Mason is from the U.K. and they lived near the Cambridge/Oxford area for 2 1/2 years and traveled all over Europe. The Mason’s have 3 cat children and they love to do anything outdoors including hiking & snowshoeing. Mrs. Mason especially LOVES to run and has recently started competing.
From her experience, Mrs. Mason has found that “Having taught in both public institutions and private, Classical, Christian schools has given me insight into the importance of teaching in the light of God’s gifts and blessings. It is important to me to have the freedom to glorify God for all He has given us. I think that education in a Christian school provides a solid and enriched foundation in truth for children to learn”.
With experience teaching in both the grammar and logic stages, Mrs. Mason notes that the development of these stages is apparent. “I believe teaching according to innate abilities is paramount. For example, teaching Logic gave me the opportunity to turn the attention of argumentative 7th graders to debate and finding faults in the argumentative process”.
Mrs. Mason finds that teaching subject matter is only part of education and creating a learning environment centered in a Christian worldview is crucial. She feels very strongly about teaching children how to learn and supplying them the tools to learn, so they continue to learn throughout their lives. We are blessed to share Mrs. Mason with our grammar level students.
